The Generali Foundation was established in 1988 by the Generali Insurance Group Austria as a non-profit art association. Additionally to activities dedicated to exhibiting and mediating art, the Generali Foundation focuses the ongoing creation of a collection of international contemporary art as well as critical development and documentation of the holdings; conceptual tendencies of the 1960/1970s are at its core.

Since the beginning of 2008, the BAWAG Foundation has joined the Generali Foundation in using the building on Wiedner Hauptstrasse for its artistic operations. It continues to act autonomously in all artistic matters and under its own director. For economic reasons, a shared company, Foundationsquartier GmbH, has been created that provides space and infrastructure to both institutions.

Between October 22 and December 20, the BAWAG FOUNDATION presents an exhibition of works by the artist Jef Geys at the Foundationsquartier.

This show will be followed, between January 22 and May 16, 2010, by "Danica Dakic. Role-Taking, Role-Making," a monographic exhibition created in collaboration with the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf.

Die Generali Foundation wurde 1988 als gemeinnütziger Kunstverein der Generali Gruppe Österreich gegründet. Die Ausstellungs- und Vermittlungstätigkeit, der Aufbau einer Sammlung zeitgenössischer Kunst internationalen Formats und die wissenschaftliche Bearbeitung und Dokumentation der Bestände stehen im Zentrum des Interesses der Generali Foundation; Kernpunkt sind konzeptuelle Tendenzen der 1960/1970er Jahre.

Seit Jahresbeginn 2008 nützt auch die BAWAG Foundation das Haus in der Wiedner Hauptstraße für ihren künstlerischen Betrieb: Sie agiert in allen künstlerischen Angelegenheiten autonom und unter eigener Leitung. Aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen stellt die gemeinsame Gesellschaft Foundationsquartier GmbH für beide Institutionen Raum und Infrastruktur zur Verfügung.

Vom 22. Oktober bis zum 20. Dezember präsentiert die BAWAG FOUNDATION eine Ausstellung des Künstlers Jef Geys im Foundationsquartier.

Im Anschluss daran wird die Generali Foundation die in Kooperation mit der Kunsthalle Düsseldorf entstandene monographische Schau „Danica Dakic. Role-Taking, Role-Making“ vom 22. Januar bis zum 16. Mai 2010 zeigen.
